ICIS'23 is organizing a tour of TRIUMF as part of the conference.

Cost: $80.00 CAD (limited to 100 attendees)

Please Note: Victoria is on Vancouver Island.
A ferry ride of 1h 35 minutes from Tsawwassen Ferry terminal is required to get to Victoria, Swartz Bay. ICIS2023 is in Victoria, BC. If you have booked your flight and will terminate in Victoria, an option you may consider is to take Harbour Air from the Inner Harbour of Victoria to downtown Vancouver on Sunday morning. Flight Schedule. From downtown Coal Harbour, take a taxi to TRIUMF. This is about a 35 minute taxi ride.
Attendees wishing to stay in Vancouver, prior to the tour may consider to stay at a hotel suggested on the Accommodations page.
TRIUMF is home to the world’s largest cyclotron particle accelerator and a system of high-energy rare isotope beams that enable a diversity of efforts in nuclear and particle physics, accelerator sciences, life sciences research and more! Tour participants get first-hand experience with many of TRIUMF’s experiments and facilities as we follow the path of the proton from its origin bound in a hydrogen atom to its destination in targets and detectors.
The tour will last 60 minutes, with time for Q&A and photography throughout.
- Registration for the TRIUMF Tour will be on a first-come, first-served basis based on availability.
- This is an option item available when registering.
- Please acquaint yourself with TRIUMF's tour information found HERE
- All TRIUMF tour registrants are responsible for getting themselves to the TRIUMF Campus.
- When you arrive at TRIUMF, a room will be available for secure storage of any luggage or personal items while you take the tour.
- TRIUMF Tour attendees are responsible for any accommodation required in Vancouver before the tour. Accommodation options can be found HERE.
- Post tour transportaton by coach to the Victoria Conference centre is included.
- The trip from TRIUMF includes the ferry from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay.
Note: if there is insufficient interest, decision to cancel the tour will be made on August 18, 2023. Attendees registered for the tour will be notified in the event of cancellation, and refunded.
